Scintillating California 

 

 

Day 1 : Arrival at SFO :Fly into San Francisco and check in at your hotel at the downtown area. After a bit of rest stroll out to the Pier 39 to the see the most happening part of the city. From Sea lions sprawled out on the pier to live music , street dancers and water front dining Pier 39 is a delightful experience. Sample the world famous crabmeat soup served in a bread bowl at one of the waterfront restaurants or indulge in some street shopping experience. Overnight at hotel

Day 2 : Alcatraz / Cable Car  : Today you will take a ferry to visit the famous Alcatraz Prison which was once home to some of America's most notorious criminals.. The presence of infamous inmates like Al "Scarface" Capone, ,Machine Gun Kelly and the "Birdman" Robert Stroud helped to establish the island's notoriety. To this day, Alcatraz is best known as one of the world's most legendary prisons.The Ferry will take you under the world  famous Golden Gate bridge and you can experience the sheer force of the wind underneath the bridge as the ferry moves choppily

Afterwards , take  the world famous cable car ride  which will take you to the most beautiful sights in the city . Riding a cable car is a cross between   an open-air bus and taking a roller coaster ride (but a slow roller coaster!) The best way is  to stand up and hold onto the poles to make the ride a little more exciting, especially as the car goes up and down the steep San Francisco hills.

 The stops on the Mason Powell line will enable you to explore  the majestic Coit tower which offers wonderful views of the bay , explore the, China Town and sample  some delectable Chinese cuisines or visit the fortune cookie factory,  visit the famous Lombard street which has a unbelievable zigzag gradient and is known as the “Crookedest Street in the World.” .Your one day passport ticket will allow you to use a hop on / hop off on the tram. A trip to Ghiradelli is highly recommended for the best ice cream sundae in town !!

 

Day 3 : Monterey, Carmel & 17-Mile Drive Day Trip : (Hotel pick up ) Drive down one of the most scenic roads in California on this full-day tour from San Francisco. Cruise along the coast-hugging Highway 1, passing the mansions of Pebble Beach on the iconic 17-Mile Drive. After curving around the Monterey Peninsula, enjoy free time to explore Monterey, where you can stroll down Steinbeck’s Cannery Row or visit the famous Monterey Bay Aquarium famous for its aquatic exhibits. Treat yourself to some exotic sea food lunch on the pier

Continue along the coast with a ride down 17-Mile Drive, home to the prestigious Pebble Beach Golf Course and the Lone Cypress tree. Listen for the barking clamor of Seal Rock with a stop along this low-lying coastal road framed by mansions and ocean vistas. Further along, visit the chic coastal community of Carmel-by-the-Sea, where you can browse high-end galleries and see remnants of a historic Spanish mission.  On the return drive to San Francisco, take an alternate route through the tech haven of Silicon Valley. Your full-day tour concludes with drop-off in Union Square in the early evening.

DAY 4 , 5 , 6 ,7 : Experience the grandeur of Yosemite National Park and the Sierra Nevada mountain range including Tahoe and Mammoth Lakes.

This 4-day excursion, departing from San Francisco, takes you into the rugged Ansel Adams Wilderness and introduces other landmarks including Yosemite’s giant sequoias, Devil’s Postpile National Monument and the ghost town of Bodie State Historic Park



Day 4 : Yosemite : Buckle up! After departing San Francisco, you’ll head through California’s famous Gold Rush Country, high into the mountains of the Sierra Nevada. It’s time to experience the majestic views from Yosemite Valley with some of America’s tallest waterfalls and towering granite cliffs rising 4,000 feet from the valley floor. You’ll have the opportunity to explore on foot, by bike, or possibly by raft or mule. Hiking trails abound, and this afternoon your guide will help you find the perfect trail to take in this glacially carved valley. Afterwards, relax on the bank of the Merced River and soak up the spectacular views before heading back to the rustic mountain resort to kick back, have some drinks and share the stories of your day.

DAY 5 - Yosemite National Park to Mammoth Lakes, CA The next morning, we’re off to explore more of what Yosemite has to offer. Your guide will set you up with an amazing morning hike or a chance to capture a few more iconic photos followed by lunch among the fabled Giant Sequoias. In the afternoon, you’ll hop back in the coach to ascend to almost 10,000 Feet (3000+ meters), traversing Yosemite’s Tioga Pass viewing iconic sites like the reflective Tenaya Lake and weaving your way through Tuolumne Meadows before descending the fiercely steep eastern slope of the Sierra Nevadas. Next up, an overnight stay in beautiful Mammoth Lakes, California. explore Mammoth’s huge mountains, numerous lakes, and expansive valleys. Try your hand at mountain biking or take a scenic Gondola ride up to 11,053 ft (3368 meters) and check out one of the most stunning 360 degree views in California.. You’ll stay overnight in a quiet hotel or campsite in Mammoth Lakes.

 DAY 6 - Mammoth Lakes to Lake Tahoe via Ansel Adams Wilderness Area You’ll start your third day with the option to visit the Ansel Adams Wilderness area. This rugged place was named in honor of the famed nature photographer. Here you’ll have the opportunity to visit the Devil’s Postpile National Monument; this strange columnar basalt formation is a rare sight in the geologic world.Next, you’re back on the road, this time headed to Lake Tahoe. Along the way, you’ll get off the pavement to experience a bit of Gold Rush history at the remote National Historic Landmark known as Bodie Ghost Town. End your adventure-filled day by trying your luck at blackjack, or the roulette wheel at The Hard Rock, Harrah's or one of South Lake Tahoe's other casinos. Gambling not your thing? We’ll set you up with a  sunset sail or a lake cruise to Emerald Bay. You’ll stay the night in a South Lake Tahoe hotel or campsite.

DAY 7  - Lake Tahoe to San Francisco This morning, you’ll get to choose your own adventure. Get up close and personal with the highest alpine lake in the USA either by kayak, stand-up paddleboard or bike. If you would prefer more of a bird’s eye view with panoramic vistas of Lake Tahoe, Carson Valley and the Desolation Wilderness, take a 2.4 mile gondola ride up, up, up to Heavenly Mountain resort where an array of adventure activities await you. This afternoon, you’ll leave Lake Tahoe behind and pass through the state’s capital city, Sacramento. You’ll follow the historic Pony Express Trail through El Dorado National Forest back to the City by the Bay, San Francisco, and we’ll drop off at our gateway hotel by 9 p.m.   

Day 8 : Depart for the airport to board your early morning flight to LA , the home to Hollywood. On arrival check in to your downtown hotel conveniently located to give you the perfect flavor of the city ! After a bit of rest head to the hotel lobby in time for your Grand city tour of LA

This tour starts in Downtown Los Angeles, see the towering skyscrapers, the famous Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, and the modern architecture of the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Then on to Southern California's gateway to the cosmos, the Griffith Park Observatory, where you will get to see the panoramic view of the City of the Angels, and the famous Hollywood Sign .Take time to stroll along Hollywood Blvd. and find the star of your favorite entertainer on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. See the Dolby Theater, home to the Academy Awards (The Oscars). Next, your tour will cruise along the storied Sunset Strip, where you will see the recognizable bars, restaurants and nightclubs that today's young and hot in Hollywood frequent all day and all night long. The tour continues West into the gorgeous neighborhoods of Beverly Hills , where you will be guided through our top selection of Movie Stars Homes and the famous Beverly Hills Sign. But it doesn’t stop there, you’ll see where the rich and famous spend their money at the world’s most exclusive boutique shops along Rodeo Drive. Next, enjoy your lunch stop and souvenir shopping at the dazzling Grove Shopping Mall and charming Original Farmer's Market, a must-stop lunch destination loved by tourists and locals alike.

Day 9 : Full day tour to Catalina Island

Travel to Southern California’s Catalina Island by boat with this round-trip ferry service from Long Beach or San Pedro on the 'Catalina Express.' Enjoy views of the Pacific during the journey, and then spend the day exploring Catalina at your leisure. The ferry drops you in the town of Avalon, the main town on the island, home to shops, restaurants, hotels, activities and more. Select your departure point—Long Beach or San Pedro—when booking. You may return on the same day or stay overnight and use the return ferry ticket when you like.
When you get off the ferry, walk just five minutes into downtown Avalon to begin your independent exploration of the island. This is not a guided tour—your time on Catalina is your own to do whatever you wish. Admire views of the waterfront along Avalon Bay, perhaps visit a restaurant or café, go shopping or do something more active (all at your own expense). The number of vehicles on the island is limited, so enjoy the pedestrian-friendly streets of town. Return to your original departure point on the ferry when you’re finished on the island.

Day 10 : Six Flags full day trip

There is so much to see and do at Six Flags Magic Mountain! From pulse-pounding roller coasters to gentler options for tots, there is something for the entire family.
